Over the years, I have organized and curated exhibits of the work of the visual artists within the projects I create as a way to highlight their artistry and offer a deeper perspective of the larger project. The Waterfront, The Neighborhood and The Bus Barns Projects all had exhibits following the performances.
Beginning in January 2023, a small group of quarry artists – Leslie Anderson, Julia Barstow, Lukas Huffman and myself – took on a lead role in dreaming up an installation of the creations of 12 artists, all who were inspired by their time in the quarry over so many years. The artists are Leslie, Julia, Lukas, Alisa Dworsky, Andreas John, Henry John, Marcy Kass, Howard Norman, Michael Kovner, Andric Severance, Michael Wisniewski, and myself. The Quarry Project Echoes will be housed in the Kent Museum in Calais, home for over 20 years to Art at the Kent. The Quarry Project Echoes will be open to the public on the weekends in June 2024. We are updating this website where you will find more and more information as the time goes on.
Meanwhile, we have begun a campaign to raise $75,000 to support the development of the work of the dozen. Cradle to Grave Arts, Inc is the fiscal sponsor. Please consider making a gift to this finale of The Quarry Project, either online or by mail. (Remember, CtGA has a new PO Box 23 in Chelsea) Here is a link for the necessary information. And mark it in your calendar so you can wander through the imaginations of these talented people.
Gratefully,
Hannah
