Responses to the Installation
Photography by Julia Barstow
I’m seeing elements here that I either missed or forgot: the tableware and cutlery; the footwear, the rowboat, more… But I’ll never forget the dance of light and color, the even of the geese! The way that time became vertical, carrying the weight and lightness of my history with the quarry - this quarry - what it has meant to my family. Hannah + all, you have filled many deep quarries in my heart.
Sally Rousse, Barre VT/Minneapolis MN
If I hadn’t seen the performance, I would have been heart-broken by this exhibit. “Oh I’ve missed something magical.” But having been to the quarry on a chilly windy night, this show was like an acid flashback, a full body experience of something experienced for the first time. Brilliant. Subtle, balanced, (malle)able (the french word for trunk or suitcase), evanescent like the performance itself but lasting in my body, mind and heart.
Thank you again, Andy

What a discovery!
Such a stunning, graceful exhibition! Bravo!
Thank you for sharing your imagination with us.
-The Ellicks Family, Acton MA, Burlington VT, Brooklyn NY
So many elements add up to this beautiful exhibit. Thank you.
I was at a performance, returned to paint the quarry and then became immersed in the quarry, Experiencing how there is less and less separation between the stone, water, sky, geese, audience, dancers, musicians, organizers, family and friends.
As Hokusai says: Everything has its own life, Everything lives inside us.
This exhibit is a celebration of that.
Art, Place, and wonderful People to gather and meet. Thank you!
It’s a wow in every sense of the word. All the senses. My story is woven through - my senses are sounding and soft tears are falling.
I am heard, I hear and I share the words, sounds, senses.
Thank you, Sabine
Beautiful setting, Beautiful building and space. This is what I imagine when I think of Vermont art!
-David Zeidler
What a beautiful idea this project was (+ is) and what a lot of work, from so many people. That’s one of the things that stands out to me - how much is possible (surprising things are possible) when people believe in each other and have a shared vision. When something begins to feel important and meaningful, that’s a gift we can give each other. Also I love this book.
Here’s what I particularly loved today - lying down on pillows in the calming room and watching that movie. A whole different experience than walking vertically through this building, which invites your imagination and senses to expand …
-Marcy Kass
Thank you for sharing this incredible project. We live in Burlington and somehow missed the performances.
-Sandra and Richard
A wonderfilled exhibition of echoes from a time out of time. The reinterpretations and displays, so elegant and inspired. The Quarry Project was such an amazing experience that transcended the senses, So great to have this version of remembrance.
Thank you, Steve Frey
Exquisite
What an intimate show. The blending of objects combined with the music and sound effects was such a meditation. Thank you for such a warm, wonderful experience.
With love and appreciation, Liz Winston
It strikes me that an awful lot of decisions go into creating space and quiet for reflections.
Such a gift, to be able to revisit the Quarry again. The hallway of costumes feels full of us and the connection and communion we shared. Standing on the Delivery Stage, wrapped in a grey coat, eyes closed, I am right back there again with us all.
Anna Olsen
One of the most beautiful exhibits I have ever seen. I feel blessed to have been in Vermont at the right time to see it.

Hopeful, creative, inspiring to again experience the beauty of expression by The Quarry Project. Truly a gift shared by a talented group of dancers. Quarry Project ECHOES brings back the mystery of water, movement and grace. Meeting the artists was truly heart warming!

This exhibit had a profound effect on me, a view of the world I will carry with me, The works of art, themselves, encouraged a first, second, third look; and in the future I will be sure to do the same as I walk through life.
Thank you, Hannah.
Ginger Clammer
Oh thank you for the surprise of being able to be with everything all over again. Deep bow to all the artists, curators, dancers, musicians, singers behind the scenes, and hangers arounders.

Looking forward to recording of music soundtrack. Please and thank you.
I showed one afternoon to watch a rehearsal. What were they trying to do? How is this going to go? No way to know. But they did. Fantastica!
One quote says that there are other worlds and that they are in this one. This project shows this. Helps you see this. Helps you feel this. I am so moved by all of the art created through this project. Thank you, thank you. Truly inspiring and moving
Lovely, thank you.

And so be it -
We enter a place and if we stay just long enough it enters us and we are transformed at least for a moment or if lucky, even longer.

Thank you thank you thank you!

Perfect place to stage this new variant of the Quarry Project. Thank you for all your site-specific pieces throughout the years.
Solveg Overby
Wait…I don’t want it to end, that I might wander and wonder on forever. Yet I am so glad that I got to see the piece itself, to be inside that quarry, to be inspelled for that while. If I had not been there, in the quarry with the magic, I fear I would leave here with such longing. Leaving now, it is not longing I carry with me but something else…a presence, an awakening of …
With love full and overflowing gratitude to your art, Hannah.
Ruby
Wandering through the rooms, stepping back in time, to standing on the floating stages, dipping toes in the water, sky overhead, musical notes and tones - magical. And here, seeing the care and details, reliving the movement all anew through other people’s eyes, hearts and creativity. Beautiful, mesmerizing. A gift.
Amy
Beautiful, joyous, inspiring and calming.
Laura
Voices and music drawing you in, from room to room, memories awaken, float to the surface, creating space to remember, to feel, to be awe struck.
Emily
What an exquisite experience and event!

The reflections are so mysterious…
I loved looking at Henry John’s book.

Thank you for the emotion and motion, the utilitarian and extraordinary ephemera, the haunting melodies and modalities, the opportunity to experience the once-in-a-lifetime performance in a different form, in a different place, in a different time, echoing.
Beautiful work!
What would it be like … water, deep at that floating, moving, seeing how something can be different and then this exhibit more more so wonderful.
Thank you. Cecelia Elwert
To be sensitive to dive, delve, become with the senses, our senses, sensing with ancestral memory, deep in our bones, who connects us to this time through time forever more, to be. Thank you.
To bear witness, to dong the bell, to float , flutter, fly, moment to moment, enter, enthrall, exit with stone, with falling, with all, with heart.
To be one with the rain, the falling, dripping, pouring waters. To be present as life continues to unfold, ripple, glide as glass from one to the next. To connect. To reconnect. To stand, sit, lay, be. For all, Thank you.
Love it all

Very evocative and a different presentation/perspective of a piece of work I heard about - never saw. It’s fascinating to see and experience the piece, a dance theatre piece/site specific, in a very established site gallery. As a theatre maker it makes me contemplate the possibilities/echoes that could be found and made by presenting a movement/text piece as a visual art/installation. Love the cross-overs. Superb.
The ability to capture a moment in time permanently is such a gift.
Steph, Chicago, Ill
