My friend Susan, whose career has been as a fine art painter, represented by a gallery, was wondering why the fundraising campaign, since for most artists who sell their work, that is how they pay themselves. I appreciated her question. It asked me to be precise how the money we raise over the next few months will be used. These are the details:
The money raised will fund the creation of the environment of The Quarry Project Echoes. Upon entering, you will feel a resonance with what you might have seen in the Wells Lamson yet quite different, a collection of memories of the quarry re-imagined for the Kent.
Most of the elements of this environment are not for sale but crucial to your experience at the Kent. Leslie, Julia, Lukas and I are in charge of the whole, making each space unique and cohesive to the overall structure. Within the installation are pieces of art that will be for sale. The money from the sales will go directly to the artists.
Your donation will also pay for a liability policy, printing, equipment rental, food for the opening and closing, and materials necessary to design the setting for the 21 spaces that comprise the installation of The Quarry Project Echoes.
In the spirit of clarity, I took last month's upside down photo and righted it to pair with my explanation that I hope has righted the fundraising request.
Lastly, thank you to all who have given generously in this first round. Your belief in the work we do is uplifting.
In gratitude
Hannah
