In studios during the winter, scenes and full ensemble dances were created from the previous summer’s experiments along with costumes, music, narration and set ideas.

As soon as the weather was warm enough, five more stages were constructed and the flotilla of nine stages was attached to cables strung across the quarry.

Excited to put together all the pieces of this project puzzle, we entered the quarry in mid July for an intensive six week period of developing the shape and flow of the final piece.

Joining us were a small number of witnesses to this final phase of making. One person said:

“We drive by this quarry many times a year. It is so spectacular. In all our wildest dreams, we never thought we would see a dance performance there. This project has truly changed how we see this place.”

Leslie Anderson and Ian Post were on cameras to shoot footage which Lukas Huffman then shaped and edited.
