FEATURED ARTIST
Marcy Kass had her hand in two aspects of the performances at the quarry: She made three Red Response Books that audience members got to write in after viewing the piece; and on our utility shed, all 300+ hand-lettered names of the people who helped bring this piece to its finale. We called it The Great Wall of Thanks.
When I reached out to her to be one of the artists in the coda of the project, she jumped at the chance. Last fall, she went to the quarry to paint these four gems. They will be individually framed and hung in the same room as her geese. She has made a response book for this exhibit, a hand-lettered banner of Hokusai Says, three geese, and 60 cubes made from Julia’s photographs that can be handled and made into a puzzle. I am amazed at her breadth of talent and delighted she is part of ECHOES.
VOLUNTEERS
We have just a few slots left to fill. If you want to be part of this crew of docents who will help this exhibit run smoothly, here is where you can sign up. Volunteer slots are just below the donor request.
NEED TO KNOW DETAILS
We now have a page devoted to the details of coming to ECHOES at the Kent. Please look it over and if in looking it over you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask me.
For the whole month of May, I will be in the building starting to install the rooms, the environment, the surrounding elements for the art for sale. If you are in the neighborhood and want to stop by for a short visit, please do. Be forewarned that I might ask for your help, at least for a few minutes.
SPREADING THE WORD
If you can put up posters and hand out postcards letting people know about this event, they can either be mailed to you (send me your postal address and number of posters) or picked up at the Kent. People to people is the best way of highlighting this final chapter to The Quarry Project.
Gratefully,
Hannah
