This is the first of two newsletters in April. There will also be two in May as we prepare to open the Echoes installation to the public in June at the Kents Corner State Historic Site in Calais.
FEATURED ARTIST
At a coffee shop in 2019, Alisa Dworsky overheard two ensemble members talking about The Quarry Project and asked how she could be involved. When she reached out to me, we were preparing for a dress rehearsal and looking for people who would try out various questions we had for an audience – primarily where to have them sit for both a good sight line and a feeling of connection with the work. Alisa jumped at the chance and gave us very helpful feedback. In 2021 when we returned to the quarry after Covid to try out new material with the ensemble, she and her family joined us. She shared with me some sketches she did while watching from a floating platform. During the performance summer, she attended two performances. At the last one, she made watercolor sketches of what she saw. These sketches were the inspiration for her Ribbon Paintings which will be seen in two rooms of the Kent. Learn more about Alisa here.
Volunteers are still needed for the days in June when the installation is open to the public. You will work with two of the artists who will be there every day to assure things run smoothly. Please sign up here. Thank you to those who have signed up already.
