It has been a month since we packed up and left the Kent. Most of the installation components have found a new home. For instance, all the white chairs that were past being sat upon are now in my woods by the driveway, in a line, descending down the hill. The ladder hangs from a tree on the other side of the driveway. Leslie has “planted” the painted trees in her garden behind which is the neighborhood of houses that were under the apple tree on the east lawn of the Kent. The corner stage in the Delivery Stage room upstairs is now in Alana’s home where spur of the moment tiny dances occur. Leslie’s paper rug from the ballroom lives in Celia’s office along with Andreas’ photograph of her on the long granite table.
Many pieces were purchased. In mid July, Andreas and I delivered three of Michael Wisniewski’s thin vertical photographs, Julia’s large rock image, Andreas’ photograph of me in the boat in the quarry, and the hanging rock to the home of Patrick and Catherine Perus. How wonderful to see the pieces in their new site.
On this page of the website you will find some of Julia’s photos of the installation scattered amongst the many thoughtful responses from the ECHOES response book. Take a read.
On this page, you will find all of Julia’s installation photographs and the link to the film that Menghan and I did before the exhibition was over. It was constructed to be as though you were attending ECHOES, walking from the parking area into the Kent, seeing each of the contents of the rooms, taking in the sounds and sites, lingering here and there, then ending outside again. It takes an hour, so hopefully you will settle in to watch and listen.
On Thursday, September 12th at 8pm, The Quarry Project film will be shown on Vermont Public (TV) as part of their Made Here series.
This is the last newsletter you will get from me for the foreseeable future. Now that The Quarry Project is over and the papers etc have gone to UVM Special Collection, I turn to home and all that needs my attention. When there is another project on the horizon, you will hear from me. Until then, thank you for your interest. You are an important part of the art making process.
