March 2023
The Quarry Project Update

March is such a pivotal month, dominated by the sound of dripping.  I can see the creases in the field of snow as melting begins, the chickadees have changed their song, and the sun is stronger. We rural dwellers have entered the fifth season fondly known as Mud when travel is curtailed while we wait.

We have three screenings coming up each of the next months:

  • Thursday April 6th at 6pm at the Savoy Theatre in Montpelier. Here is the link to reserve your seat

  • Wednesday May 31st at 7pm at Jaquith Library in Marshfield. Details coming.

  • Thursday June 29th at the Brookfield Old Town Hall. Details are still being worked out.

Ellen Smith Ahern, TABLE dancer, is presenting her collaborative piece Vulture Sister Song in two locations in early April. Here is the link for both shows:

  1. AVA Gallery, Lebanon NH, Friday April 7th. Gather at 5:30, show starts at 6:30

  2. A.P.E Gallery, Northhampton MA, Saturday April 8th at 7pm.

I had the good fortune to see this piece twice, once in progress and then the premiere late fall at Artistry in So Pomfret, VT. This is a lovely, strong, compelling piece that I highly recommend. I will see it again in Lebanon, for sure.

A glimpse into the future – Leslie and I are formulating an installation of the work of the artists from The Quarry Project and those who were inspired by the piece. It will be in 2024, a fitting conclusion.

Enjoy the slow progress towards spring.
