The Quarry Project Update
Today, those of us in Vermont woke to snow. August seems a long way away with its heat, warm water and bare skin. These images of the performance help keep my spirits up and remind me that in order to have that, we have this, where grey is a dominant color.
Ellen Smith Ahern, whose back is to you, leaning over with the challis in her hand is presenting her new piece Vulture Sister Song at Artistree in So. Pomfret, VT this weekend. Tickets are still available. I saw a section last summer and was immersed in it from the start. Such skill she and her dance partner Kate Elias bring to this art form.
The Quarry Project performances may be over but we have entered the “afterlife” that includes the film and an exhibit slated for next summer (more on that later). Lukas has almost completed editing. Below is a list of confirmed locations for screenings. We will bring the film to many communities in the region and hope to see you at one of them. Drew has made a page on our website where, by the end of the month, you can get more information, including reserving a spot for the handful of places where seating is limited.
