Much to my surprise, two awards have come my way in September of this strange and wonderous year!

The Herb Lockwood Prize
This photo taken by Greg Merher was at the Herb Lockwood Prize event on Church Street in Burlington, September 15th. In the windows, you can see all sorts of reflections of the day.

Here is the link to the Facebook page for the prize.

Here is the link to the 25-minute film of the event made by The Media Factory, my long-time media partner. * one caveat: In my acceptance speech, I meant to say that I moved to Burlington in 1974. *

Here is the Seven Days article written Elizabeth Seyler with many embedded links, including to the Herb Lockwood website where you can see and read about the previous recipients.

Deep gratitude to those who came down to Church Street, many for the first time since March, and to those who drove many miles to attend, especially Joan and Bob who traveled from Enfield, NH. I was moved to tears by all of your presence. You exemplify what I said in my acceptance speech – I may start something, but from then on, the work is made by many.

The Walter Cerf Medal is presented by the Vermont Arts Council annually to individuals who have made a sustained contribution to the arts and had an impact on Vermont's cultural life. Here is the link to the press release. A filmed response to the awards will be created this fall in lieu of an in-person gathering. I will send a link to it once it is complete.

In closing, I offer two things:

Wonderful news! Thank you for sharing word of the appropriately awarded Career Achievement Award that surprised you so thoroughly. It has surprised no one who knows of you, of your creative gift and of your tireless dedication to the art of dance. Congratulations, Hannah!
With warm, best wishes,

Cynthia in Randolph, VT

To leave the shore & simply slip out into this powerful space,
Moving slowly in and on the water,
Well over my head,
Towards that mysterious gap that shimmers.

With love and gratitude for all of you,
