The Quarry Project Update

Memories are strong of our time this summer on the water with music and movement, together for the first time in a year and a half. This photograph was from one of the early days of experimenting with the new phrases, sensing what was best – shoes/no shoes, masks/no masks – in the summer heat. Such joy in the creative process!

These past two months have whizzed by, and for many, been a time of intense stress and difficulty juggling work, children, self-care, friendships, relationships, artistic pursuits, and outdoor time. There is a palpable feeling of scarcity and a sense of spread-too-thin.

Just a year ago, all of us had to pare down to the essentials. We let go, softened, grounded in our homes, listened to our intuition, noticed our surroundings differently, attended to ourselves and our loved ones. How can we incorporate what we learned in 2020 into our lives now?

As autumn shifts into early winter, my focus turns inward, planning and running project trainings, preparing for scene rehearsals, refining and polishing all aspects in preparation for August 2022. Next month, we will share with you more photos, a clip from the 2021 footage, an updated project website, and ways you can help in a volunteer capacity to bring this long art project to performance.

Until then,
