The Quarry Project Update
November 2019

Outside, it is another world - snowy, brown, cold, cloudy - but inside, everyone in The Quarry Project has a warm and powerful memory of being on the water in this amazing space. Julia's photographs remind us, and soon we will have the 2019 film. You will be alerted to screenings come January.

Meanwhile, we have launched a new website specifically focused on The Quarry Project. Thanks to ensemble member Drew Frazier for his expert help. Please take some time to roam about and see the breadth of community commitment. The project also has a presence on social media (Facebook and lnstagram links below are active) thanks to ensemble member MaryChris DeBelina Doyle. We could use your help spreading the word.

We are actively raising the funds needed to bring this unusual creative piece to a successful conclusion. Your support is crucial. Here is a link to the secure GoFundMe campaign (within the project website) put together by Anna Martone - the dancer with big hair on the left in the photo above. It is specifically for the audience platform where you will sit come August 2020.

Here is a basic breakdown of the 2020 budget so you know where your dollars go:

$114,000 for people time:
27 ensemble members on-site during July & August
10 crew members on-site during July & August
8 collaborating artist’s stipends for their year of work
$60,000 for infrastructure materials & safety support
$174,000 TOTAL

Don't miss out on investing in something totally rare! Your financial support is crucial since personal donations comprise 90% of funding for adventurous art such as The Quarry Project. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent that the new trump tax laws allow.

Finally, let me introduce you to The Tall Dignified Couple. Here is a tiny clip of them this past summer. Photographs below by Emily Boedecker.

Sharyl Green and Peter Lackowski are residents of Burlington Cohousing where Peter grows vegetables and runs the compost operation. Both were teachers and are now involved in social justice issues. Peter continues to travel to Venezuela, writing about conditions on the ground. Sharyl creates poetry, fiction, and memoir, and has danced all her life. They were part of the ensemble for Dear Pina at the Breeding Barn, Shelburne Farms in 2012.

With appreciation,
