Important Detail

There is NO INTERNET/CELL RECEPTION at the Kent and in the neighborhood. In addition, there is spotty coverage on route there. You will certainly make it if you follow the written directions below. Remember that in this part of rural Vermont, your navigation device signal is not consistent so you could get thoroughly lost if you depend upon it to get you to the Kent.

Money

One major effect of NO INTERNET/CELL RECEPTION is that all monetary transactions must be in either cash or check. There is an ATM machine at the Maple Corner Store. There is a $5 minimum fee to enter the exhibit, so come prepared. If you are planning to buy art, speak to one of the core artists on site.

Directions

The Kents Corner State Historic Site at the intersection of Kent Hill Rd and Old West Church Rd in Calais.

From Montpelier it is a 20 minute drive. Take Main Street up the hill, north of the town center to County Rd. At the end of the paved section of County Rd, (Maple Corner) take a right on Kent Hill Rd. The building is .08 of a mile at the intersection of Kent Hill Rd, Old West Church Rd, and Robinson Cemetery Rd.

For those coming to see the films the Maple Corner Community Center is at 84 West County Rd

Parking

At the Kent, there is a grassy area across from the building on Old West Church Rd. You can also park along the right hand side of the roads, leaving plenty of room for emergency vehicles. There are cones at the places NOT to park. Please respect the neighbors of the Kent.

At the Maple Corner Community Center for the film screenings you can park along the right hand side of the road. No parking where there are cones. No parking at the store. As an alternative, you could leave your car at the Kent and walk the .08 mile to the Community Center.

Access

Sadly, only the first floor is accessible to those who use a wheelchair. These old doorway openings downstairs range from 34" to 28" wide. If you have a narrow wheelchair, then you should have no problem, but please ask for assistance at any point.

You can park temporarily at the beginning of the pathway to the store entrance. If you need someone to park your vehicle, we can help you out. From the store, there is an elevator that brings you up to the main floor.
